How to Add Custom Units of Measurement (UOM)

Overview This guide explains how to add custom Units of Measurement (UOM) in the POS system. It’s ideal for owners, managers, and staff who need to set up custom measurement units for products.

Example units include:

- Box (box) – for items sold in packs or cartons

- Dozen (dz) – for eggs, bread rolls, or other items sold in 12s

- Pair (pr) – for shoes, gloves, or earrings

Step 1: Go to Measurement Units

From the left-hand menu, click Products and Services → Measurement Units.

Step 2: Add a New Custom Unit

Click the Add New Custom Unit button.

Step 3: Create Box (box)

- Name: Box
- Abbreviation: box
- Precision: 0
- Tick Enable, then click Save Changes.
💡 Use for items sold in packs or cartons

Step 4: Create Dozen (dz)

- Name: Dozen
- Abbreviation: dz
- Precision: 0
- Tick Enable, then click Save Changes.
💡 Use for eggs, bread rolls, or other items sold by 12s.

Step 5: Create Pair (pr)

- Name: Pair
- Abbreviation: pr
- Precision: 0
- Tick Enable, then click Save Changes.
💡 Use for shoes, gloves, or earrings.

Additional Tips or Notes

- Default UOMs like gram, kilogram, litre, and item are already available in the system.
- Custom UOMs can be enabled or disabled anytime.
- Make sure to use consistent abbreviations (e.g., box, dz, pr) for easier reporting and tracking.
