Printer Routing for Kitchen Stations in Dizlog POS (Items & Categories)

Kitchen printers help streamline operations by automatically routing order tickets to the correct preparation area.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

With Dizlog POS, you can configure printer groups so that items print to specific stations (e.g., drinks to the bar, pizzas to the oven, breads to the bakery).

This guide explains how to enable kitchen printers and set up routing rules by item, category, or station.

Table of Contents

Enable Kitchen Printer in POS Settings

  1. From the Dizlog Web App, go to ⚙️ Settings > POS Settings.

  2. Toggle on Kitchen Printer.

  3. Click Save to apply.

Create Printer Groups

  1. Navigate to POS > Kitchen Printer.

  2. Click Add Printer Group.

  3. Fill in the required fields:

    • Group Printer Name: A label for this printer group (e.g., “Bar,” “Grill,” “Breads”).

    • Assigned Categories/Items: Select which menu categories or items should print to this station.

  4. Save the group.

Assign Categories to Printer Groups

  • Each printer group can handle multiple categories.

  • Example: Create a printer group called Breads and assign the categories Breads, Loaf Bread, Pandesal.

  • All items in these categories will automatically print to the “Breads” kitchen printer during checkout or open orders.

Route Items by Station

  • Use printer groups to route specific items to different stations:

    • 🥤 Beverages → Bar Printer

    • 🍕 Pizza → Oven Printer

    • 🥪 Sandwiches → Cold Station Printer

  • Each item will print to the correct prep station automatically, reducing confusion and speeding up service.

Manage Printer Groups (Edit/Delete)

  • To edit a printer group, click the pencil icon.

  • To delete, click the trash icon.

  • You can add multiple kitchen printers as needed by repeating the Add Printer Group process.

Best Practices

  • Create separate printer groups for each prep station.

  • Use clear group names that match physical areas (e.g., “Bar,” “Hot Kitchen”).

  • Test each group by sending a sample order before going live.

  • Regularly update printer routing rules if menu categories change.

With these steps, your kitchen printers in Dizlog POS will be fully configured to route orders by item, category, or station — helping staff work faster and more accurately.
